THE CLOCK TOWER
STARA VAROS - the OLD TOWN and its 16 metre-high CLOCK TOWER represent an image of old Podgorica dating from the Turkish period, famous for its narrow streets, curved paths, houses and oriental style buildings.
THE MILLENIUM BRIDGE
A symbol and landmark of the new city. The 140 metre-long bridge links the banks of the River Moraca. Its specially designed pylons are 57 m high. It is a place young people to meet and an ideal subject for photographers..
REPUBLIC SQUARE - TRG REPUBLIKE
The city-centre square has been recently reconstructed thus becoming a truly modern square. It is known for its fountain and colonnades. A very kind ambiance is great for taking photos and for family days-out. It is a place where many sophisticated events take place.
HERCEGOVACKA STREET
A central and traditional place for the people of Podgorica. It has been turned into a pedestrian area and has many cafés, boutiques and modern, luxury buildings. It is an ideal place for a midday coffee break and has a great night life.
CITY PARKS
PWide, green, beautiful and well arranged park areas make Podgorica a special city and one of “the most green” in Europe. These are excellent places for recreation and relaxing with an ecological orientation.
RADOSAV LJUMOVIC NATIONAL LIBRARY
SLocated in downtown, the library offers a very rich collection of local and foreign writers. This is a modern place, particularly attractive to students. It has a special stage area suitable for poetic, literary and editorial evenings.
THE CITY BOOKSTORE
Located in the very heart of the city, the bookstore offers a rich collection of books of different kinds, meeting everyone’s taste. In the summer time, many literary evenings are organised on the stage area located in front of the bookstore.
KARVER CLUB - BOOKSTORE
This is a unique place: a bookstore, library, café, Internet café…all at the same time. We recommend that all people, especially those that like books, visit this beautiful place.
SASTAVCI or SKALINE
This is place at the confluence of the rivers Ribnica and Moraca, where the remains of Nemanja’s old city are located. There are divided opinions about the name, but one thing is sure - all tastes are satisfied. The name comes from the word “generation” – the older population remembers and calls this romantic place Sastavci. The old bridge at the confluence of the two rivers is an ideal place for taking photos and watching the sunset..
DOCLEA
It is an archaeological site and ancient ornament. The remains of buildings and burial sites are evidence of old civilizations and cultures which once existed here.
LAKE SKADAR
A jewel of nature, rich with cultural and historical features, old traditional houses with folk architecture, nearly 60 islands, hills, rich nature, flora and fauna, make Lake Skadar, itself a cryptodepression, a very unique and special place.
