CHURCH of ST.GEORGE

St. George’s Church is located under Gorica Hill and it has a very long history. It was built in the Middle Ages, and has been renovated several times since. The unknown builder of this church used building materials from earlier ruins.

EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN DOLJANI (place near Podgorica)

This church is located 3km north-east of Doclea. The remains of two churches dating from the early-Christian period have been found here.

CELIJA PIPERSKA MONASTERY

ZThis monastery was built from an endowment given by St.Stefan Piperski and is dedicated to the Birth of the Holy Mother of God. It dates from 1637 and was reconstructed in 1994. Relics of St.Stefan Piperski are kept in the monastery.

DAJBABE MONASTERY

oDajbabe Monastery was founded in 1897 and is located near Podgorica.The monastery is dedicated to the Ascension of the Holy Mother of God. The monastery was built from a cave. The interior of the monastery was painted by its trustee and monk Simeon Popovic and its illustrations perfectly blend in with the natural shape of the cave walls. He dedicated his whole life to the monastery.

ZLATICA MONASTERY

This monastery is located in a place called Crkvine, in Doljani, on the left bank of the River Moraca. It dates from the 5th or 6th century, but it was destroyed in the 7th century by Avars and Slavs. It was first mentioned in the register of Skadar Sandžak in 1485.
